These may include harassment and discrimination, new sources of stress, the space and safety to heal from childhood trauma, stepping outside of your comfort zone, creating healthy boundaries, and much more.
If this describes you, you are not alone. More than 9 in 10 college students report that academic challenges negatively impact their mental health. In 2022, 25% of college students reported feeling isolated from others, 18% reported experiencing microaggressions, 12% reported experiencing sexual harassment, and 12% reported experiencing some form of discrimination. In 2023, 77% of college students experienced moderate to serious psychological distress. Rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts on college campuses have never been higher.
