Art therapy focuses on guiding patients through creative ways of expressing emotions, thoughts, and experiences. By encouraging freedom of expression in a variety of mediums, clients can start processing emotions and experience healing.
The unique creations clients make are not judged but instead accepted as a form of communicating what may be difficult to articulate. Clients are encouraged to engage in the process of creation versus critiqued on the style or skill level of their creation. It is believed that through the creation process, root causes of dysfunctional patterns may be revealed.
